Beyond her classroom, Dawn’s most favorite things in the world include her three children; Laci, Cayd, and Macki, her son-in-love Drew, her niece and nephew; Gracie and Ace, her dachsund puppy Jinx, books, books, and more books, coffee, 80's music, all things sparkly, and her very best friend in the whole world—her grandson Caul. <3

Dawn Bilbrey is beginning her 22nd year as a NM teacher at San Jon High School, where she teaches English in grades 8-12. Dawn is an active alumni fellow for New Mexico Teach Plus and is a Level lll master teacher who has received an exemplary ranking as a teacher for the last four years. In addition to teaching, Dawn also works as an independent educational consultant in the area of instructional strategies for highly effective teaching and classroom management, and writes ELA curriculum for TRUE Consultants, a homeschool educational consulting company. Dawn has previously taught all grades from 7 through 12 in English, but loves teaching 8th grade English the most because of the age of students and literature of that grade level. Dawn became an English teacher because of her love of ‘great books’ and a deep desire to share that love with her students. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a BA in Secondary Education and received her masters degree in Instructional Design and Educational Pedagogy from Eastern New Mexico University in 2010.
